"And now, for wines and service completely different"
The state of Oklahoma presents some unique challenges for wine distribution with our “4-tier system” and “non-franchised” wholesalers. By law, all wineries must be posted with the state through a “broker,” who is registered as the “sole distributor” of said winery. The broker is responsible for acquiring (shipping & warehousing) the product, then selling it to the various wholesalers who in turn sell and deliver to the restaurant and retail level.

While this might seem to some as an unnecessary additional tier, you must keep in mind that our “non-franchised” wholesalers all carry the same products, leaving little incentive for their sales staff to focus on smaller production, lesser-known brands. Because of this, it is imperative that a successful broker must be an accomplished marketing agent for his respective brands. The most expert broker’s sales team must have previous employment experience in restaurant, club, hotel and retail. It is for this reason that Woodward’s Wines UNcommon is such an ideal choice to represent these types of brands.
Our quest in distribution is to identify those brands which have hands-on control from grape growing through production. Communication and organization are our greatest strengths and we excel best with those who share those qualities. Woodward's Wines UNcommon is known and respected for representing only the best wines with affordability. We rarely choose to broker a winery's entire portfolio, opting instead to select only those flavors with which we deem to be of the finest style and balanced price point. "Woodward's Wines" are recognized by restaurant and retail for their uniqueness and superior quality. It is those UNcommon businesses who welcome our sales representatives into their establishments.
Our entire staff loves wine, the wine business and the wonderful relationships we have developed with winemakers and wineries.
